Due to its proximity to U.S, the southern America
geographical region has been one of the main area of
interest for United States. The politics of Capitalism
has been continuously in search of proper fields to
prepare more benefits and security. That is why
capitalistic governments has always had a tendency to
support, or at least not to disagree the policy of
dictators such as Pinochet.
In such a context, some cinema professionals from
Latin American countries tried to make the films with
social-political approach to criticize this kind of
interferences. Some directors have taken this approach in a
direct way, like Estela Bravo, but some others
indirectly implied the same notion.
In fact, most of the discreet charm of Latin American
Cinema could be considered as a result of the tendency
to provide a portrait of the notion, implying powerful
metaphors, which are from the magnificent Literature of
Latin America.
While there is such an interesting potentiality, the
Iranian audience has not had any serious chance to have
access to this cinema during last 25 years. So, to hold
the Panorama of Latin American Cinema in Tehran could be
a good way to reduce this gap, to provide a proper
atmosphere for cultural dialogue, to consider the
important cinematographic culture in this area, and to
deal with society, history, memory, future, dreams and
utopias. |
